First thing to notice is the importance placed on the person himself, his experiences. David Denborough’s Charter of Storytelling Rights is listed on pages 41 -42:

By claiming these rights we give ourselves permission to be the ultimate authority on our own life and experiences. As soon as this occurs, we can begin to tell and retell the stories that define who we are and how we relate to the world around us.’ (Denborough, 2015)

This is Louis’s story.

Louis also holds a light up for others detained in hospital, asking them, their families, professionals working with them, to take hope that what was possible for him, to move into a home of his own and a year later to be settled and flourishing, is a possibility for them too.
